CHARLOTTE COUNTY - It’s been nearly a month since Warm Mineral Springs shutdown.

While the process of finding new operators for the springs continues, the city has agreed to use more than $45,000 in the springs contingency fund for repairs to the landmark.

According to our coverage partners at the Sun Herald, commissioners voted on Monday to add fencing, fix electrical problems and hire around-the-clock security.

The city opened the bidding process for new short term operators this week, but repairs could take more than a month to complete.

The springs closed on July first, after the city and county could not come to a long term agreement on what to do with the day spa.
