VENICE - City officials continue to monitor Tropical Storm Isaac and prepare to respond to its impacts.

On Monday, Venice City Hall, along with all other government buildings, schools and courts will be closed.

If the storm continues on its current track, people with special needs will be evacuating Sunday morning. For questions regarding the registration for the special needs program, call (941) 861-5000.

Other things to remember:

Venice is not a barrier island. Should there be a call to evacuate barrier islands, Venice is not part of that evacuation.

The bridges to Venice will never be closed to vehicular traffic. Once winds are up to 45 miles per hour, they will be closed to boat traffic.

Should the American Red Cross open shelters, those openings will be announced on local television and radio stations. If you live in a low-lying area or in a mobile home, consider what you will want to take with you should an evacuation be ordered.

Venice City police, fire, public works and utilities employees will be working around the clock.

Due to the failure of the Go Daddy server that hosts the city's website, there may not be further updates on the front page of the site. However, we will continue to send news releases and use FACEBOOK to send current information.

Residents may be able to view the news releases by reading the city council email on the website: www.venicegov.com and click on city council email, link to web access, User Name: Public; Password: winter.
