TALLAHASSEE, FL. - Six Charlotte County High School students were on a charter bus involved in a fatal crash Wednesday in Tallahassee.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a car driving the wrong way on interstate 10, plowed into the charter bus carrying the students.
The driver of the car that hit the bus, a 22-year old middle school teacher in Tallahassee, was killed.
The students were headed back to the Suncoast after attending the Skills-USA Competition in Pensacola.
One Port Charlotte student on the bus says the accident happened so quickly no one had time to react. "We were just jumping onto the pavement on the highway. I noticed a lot of smoke, but that wasn't really my big concern, my big concern was getting out and getting anyone else help," says Quade Savisky.
One of the six Charlotte County students was seriously hurt in the crash.
