CHARLOTTE COUNTY - Troopers say a Bradenton man pulled out in front of an SUV on S. McCall Road Thursday, causing a collision that killed him.

It happened at the intersection with Winchester Boulevard just before 9am Thursday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 73-year-old Guillermo Gonzalez of Bradenton was driving a Corvette southbound on Winchester, stopped at the stop sign in the left turn lane.

Troopers say he pulled out to make the left turn directly into the path of a Toyota 4Runner that was headed westbound on McCall.  The driver of the SUV, 64-year-old Brandon Murphy of North Port, attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, but still crashed into Gonzalez's Corvette.

Gonzalez was taken to Englewood Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Murphy was uninjured in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation.
