PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for assistance from the public in a case of arson that occurred in July in Whidden Industrial Park located in the Charlotte Harbor area of Port Charlotte.
On Thursday July 3 at about 2:30 am, the Charlotte County Fire Department responded to a fire reported in the fenced in lot across the street from 4140 Whidden Blvd. in the Whidden Industrial Park. They found that a boat in the lot was on fire.
When the business owner checked the area later, he found indications that the fire had been intentionally set using other items located inside the fenced-in lot.
As a result of the initial investigation, the boat fire has been labeled as an act of arson and detectives assigned to the case are asking for assistance from anyone who might have information in the case.
