DESTIN--Authorities in Destin, Florida say a shark bit a boy in the Gulf of Mexico off the Panhandle yesterday afternoon.
Destin Fire Control District Capt. Mark Hutchinson told the Northwest Florida Daily News (http://newspr.es/GCKXqn) that the boy was roughly knee-deep in the water when the shark bit him on the right forearm.
The boy – whose name was not released – was taken to the hospital with what Hutchinson described as a “pretty significant-sized laceration.” Hutchinson added that the bite wasn't severe enough for an amputation, and that the boy never lost consciousness.
This comes a month after a shark also bit a man on the foot off the waters in Pensacola.
