Hillsborough County, FL -  The body of a 13 year old girl found in the Triple Creek Nature Preserve in Hillsborough County has been identified as that of missing Janessa Shannon.

Shannon, was reported missing on July 2nd by her father.  According to family, at one point she was spotted in the Bradenton area where her mother lives.  Manatee County Detectives were helping HCSO with their search for the young girl.

Hillsborough County did not issue an Amber alert because Shannon did not meet the classification.  She was not under 12 or mentally disabled.  Also it is believed she ran away from home.

Last Wednesday, her remains were found in a heavily wooded area of the Preserve.  Over the weekend she was positively identified.  Hillsborough County detectives say they are investigating the death as a homicide.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
