ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic situation late Wednesday night.

Jeffery Lee Mullins was arrested and charged with domestic battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  According to deputies, they were called to a home on Harwich Circle just before 8 p.m.  The victim who called police fled for the home for safety and informed the deputies that heard gunfire from inside the residence.

The victim said Mullins had barricaded himself within the residence and eventually stopped communicating with the responders.  SWAT team members and detectives responded to the scene and Mullins eventually surrendered early Thursday morning and was taken to jail.
