Sarasota road rage shooter acted in self-defense, no charges filed

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Investigators have released new details into the road rage incident that ended in gunfire on the Suncoast last week. 

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office investigators say 75-year-old Stephen B. Fernald of Sarasota fired his gun. The bullet struck 21-year-old Hunter R. Bradley, of Lakewood Ranch, in the shoulder area. Bradley was taken to a hospital for medical attention after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released. 
 
Based on their investigation, detectives determined Fernald fired his weapon in self-defense. The case has been closed, no charges were filed against either driver.
