SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - The concentration level of red tide has increased more than 25 percent in Sarasota County since last week.
Charlotte County is between 5-25 percent higher than last week while Manatee County is the same amount lower. But overall, all three counties still have a high concentration of red tide, with testing showing background to high concentrations in Sarasota and Manatee counties and medium to high concentrations in Charlotte County.
Fish kills were reported in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties while respiratory irritation was only reported in Sarasota and Manatee counties
The patchy bloom of red tide continues to hug the Suncoast and shifting waters move it up and down the area. Forecasts indicate net southern movement of surface waters and net southeastern transport of subsurface waters over the next three days for most areas.
