MANATEE COUNTY (WWSB) - ABC 7 is continuing to countdown the top 5 dangerous intersection on the Suncoast.
Coming in at number 3 is State Road 70 and Lockwood Ridge Road in Bradenton.
On an average day more than 60,000 cars travel through that intersection, making it a hot spot for congestion.
Bradenton resident Bill Gabbard says he's not surprised the intersection is considered one of the most dangerous.
For 20 years he's been living just a few miles away from the intersection. He's seen the intersection from it's beginnings.
"I came out here when it was asphalt road with one stop sign. It's just horrible, the lights are too short. I think it's because of the growing businesses in this area", says Gabbard.
The Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization or the MPO is working with partner agencies like the Florida Department of Transportation to see what can be done to reduce the risk of severe crashes and congestion.
This isn't the first time this location has been identified as a dangerous intersection.
So far, according crash reports through the MPO, it's been reported more than 17 cars were been involved in crashes at SR 70 and Lockwood Ridge Road within a 2 year span.
Thursday morning ABC 7 will be breaking down the second dangerous intersection is on the Suncoast starting at 5am.
