CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL- The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the Punta Gorda Airport nearly $6 million for an expansion.
The Airports Assistant Manager made the announcement at an Airport Authority meeting Thursday. The Airport had applied for two grants for this year, but only received one that totaled 5.7 million dollars.
The grant will go towards expanding the Bailey terminal to double its size from what it is now. The Airport will also increase the number of air gates, enhance security and increase the size of the passenger waiting area.
The expansion is expected to cost 8 million dollars in total.
