PUERTO RICO (WWSB) - Thousands of Puerto Ricans are still staying in hotels across the country, six months after Hurricane Maria devastated the island.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is still paying for ten thousand victims who are living in thirty seven states as well as in Puerto Rico.  That assistance is scheduled to end on March 20th, leaving many storm victims stranded.

Puerto Rico's governor, Ricardo Rosello is requesting an extension to the deadline.
