PORT CHARLOTTE, FL-A Port Charlotte teen was charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft following a midday chase on Tuesday.

Shortly after noon on February 4, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from an 11-year old boy who reported that Justice Eugene Perry, 15, of 22128 Laramore Avenue in Port Charlotte, may have just tried to break into his house.  The boy knew Perry as they lived in the same neighborhood.

While deputies responded to the boy’s address, another deputy located someone who matched Perry’s description several blocks away on LaSalle Road.  That person identified himself as “Davis” and then fled on foot from the deputy.

K9 officers from both the Sheriff’s Office and Punta Gorda Police Department, along with the Sheriff’s Office’s aviation unit, responded to the area to assist in looking for Perry.  Perry was spotted several times over the course of the following hours, but managed to jump over fences and run between houses to elude deputies.  A deputy was able to catch up with him in the area Midway Blvd. and Page Street about 3:30 pm and take him into custody.

As a result of the investigation of this incident, detectives were able to link Perry to three other burglaries on Laramore Avenue.  He was ultimately charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, four counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Giving a False Name to Law Enforcement, Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief More than $1000 Damage and two counts of Petit Theft.  After being booked at the Charlotte County Jail, Perry was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
