Police: Two suspects arrested for attempted murder; kidnapping

BRADENTON, FL (WWSB) - The Bradenton Police Department (BPD) has arrested two individuals on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Armed Kidnapping.

According to BPD, officers apprehended Lakesha Rapolla and Andre Romilus Saturday night in connection with a shooting on Aug. 9 that left one person seriously injured.

Police say units responded Thursday, Aug. 9 to the 2800 block of 11th Ave E. at 5:50 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

Once on scene, officers found 36-year-old Shakeera Brody with gunshot wounds to her upper body.

Brody remains hospitalized following several surgeries.

Detectives say there were able to identify Rapolla and Romilus as suspects in the case.

On Saturday, Bradenton Police SWAT and Detectives served a search warrant in the 1900 block of 6th Ave. E. and arrested Rapolla and Romilus without incident.
