Police arrest, charge suspect in connection to two north Sarasota shootings

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Sarasota Police have arrested Joshua J. Bane, 32, in connection to two separate shootings in north Sarasota.

Detectives arrested Bane without incident in the 300 block of Tuttle Avenue in Sarasota on Wednesday, May 16.  

Police say a firearm and ammunition were recovered from the arrest location which will be sent for testing to determine if it was used in the shooting.

According to SPD,  Bane is still being interviewed by Sarasota Police Detectives and will be charged later this afternoon.

Police say Bane is charged with a shooting on May 8th that happened near the intersection of 23rd Street and South Osprey Avenue. According to police, a person was shot while sitting in a vehicle.

Bane is also charged with a shooting on May 13th. That incident happened at Palmadelia Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Way in Sarasota. One man was shot and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
