Sunday Feb 2 was the 14th AnnualFestival at Manatee County's Gamble Plantation. The free event in Ellenton raised money and awareness for the Gamble Plantation Preservation Alliance, a Nonprofit group that supports the State Park. Visitors enjoyed an arts and crafts show school competition as well as free tours of the Gamble Mansion. The gamble plantation still has furnishings from the 1840's and is the oldest building in Manatee County. Kevin Kiser is the Park Manager of Gamble Plantation and says remembering what happened in history is so important. Kiser says ”If we don't remember what happened in the past, how can we keep going forward and not make the same mistakes?”. After the Civil War the Secretary of the Confederacy hid at the mansion. Kiser emphasizes "It's a very important piece of Suncoast History we shouldnt lose".
