MANATEE COUNTY, FL- Northbound lanes of I-75 are back open after being closed for six hours Tuesday morning.

The closure was due to an accident involving a semi truck.  Just after 2am, a semi traveling northbound just north of the University Parkway exit (#213) lost control and smashed into a guard rail and concrete barrier.

The semi then jack knifed and overturned, blocking the lanes.

A pickup truck traveling behind the semi veered to avoid the crash and clipped the back of the semi.  No one was seriously injured in the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol  has charged the semi truck driver with careless driving.
