NORTH PORT, Fla. -- The North Port Police Department is looking for organizations and businesses interested in sponsoring or hosting an information table or activity at the upcoming National Night Out event on August 5, 2014.
The North Port Police Department will host a communitywide event focused on public safety and neighbors meeting neighbors to keep neighborhood safe. National Night Out will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Gene Matthews Boys and Girls Club, 6851 S. Biscayne Drive.
Organizations and businesses are invited to get involved in the event. This event is focused on crime prevention and offering the public information on steps residents can take to fight crime. In years past, National Night Out has attracted more than 2,000 participants. It is one of the largest community events of its kind in the region.
Already, several activities have been planned for the event. Activities include free food, music entertainment, prize drawings, bounce houses, obstacle courses for children, Fire Rescue displays, K-9 demonstrations, and more.
The entire event is free. There are no sales of any kind at National Night Out.
