NORTH PORT, Fl-From March 17th through the 21st, K-9 officer Keith Bush and his partner “Tomy” of the North Port Police Department attended a United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) field trials event in Pensacola, Florida. The main objective of USPCA trials is to certify the K-9 teams so that they are able to serve their respective communities. We are proud to announce that our K-9 Team received their re-certification during this week- long event, however, yet again, they brought home several awards.

A number of trophies were awarded to Officer Keith Bush and K-9 Tomy who competed against 50 other K-9 Teams from USPCA Region 1, which encompasses agencies from Florida, southern Georgia and southern Alabama. Their successes were as follows:

1. 2nd Place Overall “TOP DOG” Award

2. 2nd Place “2-Man Team” Inter-Departmental Award – Officer Keith Bush and K-9 Tomy and his competition partner for this event, Officer Chad Walker and K-9 “Atlas” (Venice Police Department)

3. 2nd Place “Agility” Award

4. 3rd Place “Search” Award

5. 4th Place “Obedience” Award

Our K-9 Teams continue to travel along the path of excellence. We encourage the great citizens of North Port to congratulate them on a job well done.
