PORT CHARLOTTE, FL. - Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a 15-year-old boy for hitting his grandmother with a lamp.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call around 6 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment on Aaron Street. The 71-year-old woman told deputies her grandson kept demanding and threatening her to give him $20 and she continually refused. She said she was moving to another apartment, so she can get guardianship of her grandson and didn’t have the extra money.
The report says he asked her again and when she refused, he cursed at her and grabbed a glass lamp and threw it at her. The lamp struck her in the face below her eye and on her nose, shattered the bulb, and caused a laceration. He then fled the apartment.
The grandmother said he returned and was very angry. He got into her face and said, “I should punch you in the jaw.” She replied, “Go ahead, just hit me.” He did not hit her, but continued yelling. She then called the sheriff’s office, and he fled the apartment again.
He was located nearby, arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. He was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon on a Person 65 or Older. This is his 13th booking and was sent to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) in Fort Myers.
