MANATEE COUNTY- A new preserve will open next month in Manatee County.  Neal Preserve is 120 acres of natural beauty on the south side of Manatee Avenue, just east of the Anna Maria Bridge.

Manatee County purchased the land in 2005 using a combination of local dollars, a partial donation by the land owner, and grant funding through the Florida Communities Trust.

The preserve features an observation tower overlooking Sarasota Bay and elevated boardwalks through the salt marsh habitat.

It will be open to the public on April 9th following a ribbon cutting ceremony.
