BRADENTON, Fla. -- The saga of the Sheena Morris case continues.
Morris was found hanging in a Bradenton Beach hotel room on New Year’s day in 2009.
The Bradenton Beach Police Department ruled her death a suicide, but her mother, Kelly Osborn, is convinced she was murdered by her fiancé.
Last October, ABC’s 20/20 did a profile on her story. Since then, the FDLE and the State Attorney's Office both concluded that there remains no evidence to suggest Morris was murdered.
Osborn says that in tonight's update on 20/20, some new evidence will be released contradicting the state's case.
“It has been a long road,” said Osborn. Her daughter Sheena would have turned 28-years-old today.
“Normally, this would be a day that is really heart wrenching and heartbreaking. This kind of feels like happy birthday Sheena. Some of these things will be released.”
The follow-up story tonight will be an update on what has happened since the original story aired in October.
Osborn says 20/20 will shed light on what she calls mistakes in the case review.
“What is glaring is that the FDLE and the State Attorney's Office won't look or talk to or even consider any of the experts. They just kind of shot things down one after another.”
And Osborn won't back down — she will continue the fight to discover the cause of her daughter’s death.
“I do think Sheena would be proud. I know her personality. If the other way around, that's what she would have done.”
