WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House has received an intelligence review board report analyzing the National Security Agency's vast surveillance programs.

National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden says the report includes more than 40 recommendations, though she did not detail what those recommendations were. Hayden says the White House will finish its own internal review of the NSA programs in January, after which President Barack Obama is expected to speak publicly about possible changes in surveillance in the United States and overseas.

The White House says the review board report looks at ways the U.S. can protect its national security interests while also maintaining "the public trust and reducing the risk of unauthorized disclosure."

Hayden says the review board report will be made public after the president speaks about its conclusions.
