TEXAS - A routine traffic stop this week quickly turned into a major drug bust for Texas Highway Patrol troopers, who seized 3.9 tons of marijuana from a tanker rig.

The pot, valued at more than $3.4 million, was concealed inside a tanker truck.

Officers pulled the driver over northeast of Corpus Christi for a commercial vehicle inspection Tuesday and discovered the stash.

The driver, 45-year-old Paul Anthony Simmons, was arrested on a marijuana possession charge and a $1 million bail was posted.

An investigation is ongoing.
