HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAAY) A flag, that once flew over the World Trade Center, is returned to its owner.

According to NBC News, an American flag was stolen last week. It was returned to its owner, anonymously, on Thursday.

The flag was returned to its owner with a note that said, "I am so sorry. I had no idea. "

The flag holds special meaning for Melissa Brengel. It was given to her by the September 11th Families Association. Her 29 year old brother, FDNY Firefighter Jonathan Ielpi, died on Sept. 11th.
