WEST FARGO, ND - A North Dakota woman has announced her intentions to hand out letters instead of candy to Halloween trick-or-treaters that she deems "moderately obese".
The note is addressed to parents and explains her decision to not give some kids candy.
According to Valley News Live, the woman, identified only as "Cheryl", called the Y-94 radio station on Tuesday during a discussion about obesity. "I'm contributing to their health problems and really, their kids are everybody's kids. It's a whole village," she said in the interview.
The letter later surfaced and spread through social media.
In part, the note reads: "My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits."
