Sometimes a compliment comes when you least expect it. That's the message Canadians are sending to Americans.
As part of a new social media campaign, "Tell America Why It's Great", our neighbors to the north are being encouraged to use #TellAmericaWhyItsGreat and share words, videos, songs, etc., to give positive vibes during this rough political climate.
A business called "The Garden" is the brainchild behind this trending story.
In a statement, The Garden creators wrote "It’s no secret that America is going through a hard time right now. The election has exposed some pretty scary realities that will likely challenge them for years to come, regardless of who’s elected. They’ve been bombarded with a tremendous amount of negativity and it’s likely that for many of them, the immediate future seems rather bleak."
They went on to add "As their closest friends and neighbours, we thought it was important for us to do something to cut through the negativity and help remind them that no matter how bad things might seem, there are a lot of reasons to believe that America is still pretty great. As we set out, we weren’t exactly sure how people would react. After all, America is far from perfect, and one of Canada’s favourite pastimes is pointing out those imperfections. But while we definitely had some who declined to share, we were pleasantly surprised by the large number of people who wanted to."
