JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WAAY) - A Georgia man was arrested Wednesday night after authorities said he left his 5-year-old child alone in a vehicle to go hunting.

Brandon Mark Chambers, 29, of Trenton, Ga., is charged with endangering a child.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Chambers left the child in a vehicle in Flat Rock Wednesday night while he went hunting.

Authorities said they learned about the incident when the child hit the OnStar button in the vehicle because he was cold.

When authorities arrived, the boy's father was still hunting and the car's thermometer gave a reading of 31 degrees.

Deputies were unsure exactly how long the child was in the vehicle but said it was several hours.

Chambers is out of jail after posting a $500 bond.
