MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - The number of armed guardians protecting students and faculty in Manatee County Public Schools continues to grow.
The school board will hold a ceremony Friday morning where 13 more guardians will get their certificate to serve.
Next week, there will be 31 guardians on duty across the county, and two lead guardians.
Seven more guardians will start training on Monday.
Manatee County has been working to fill 40 positions for several months to comply with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Safety Act, which requires every school in the state of Florida to have an armed security officer on campus.
