MANATEE COUNTY - A Bradenton teenager who was working on his truck sustained traumatic injuries after the tool used to jack up the vehicle gave way while he was underneath.

It happened just before 3pm Sunday afternoon on Hagle Park Road in East Bradenton.

According to Manatee County Fire Rescue, crews had to lift the truck off the teen's legs, and a helicopter took him to Blake Medical Center with what rescuers called "traumatic injuries."

No word on his name or condition yet.

Many years ago, I was taught to use jack stands, in addition to a hydralic jack, while working on a car.

Perhaps this young man didn't know that, and I hope he heals up. Looks pretty bad.
