MANATEE COUNTY - Southeast High School went under lockdown Friday morning, but it was just a drill.

It took place from 9 until 10:15 as law enforcement made a sweep of the campus.

School officials say the surprise check is all part of the new security procedures the school board put in place after the Newtown, CT. shootings.

Thank you ABC news for letting us parents with students at Southeast know right away that it was a drill verses having to wait for a letter being sent home with our children and a automated call that is going to happen TONIGHT by the school. I would have liked a automated call from the school immediatly after. Just a thought for future drills for peace of mind for the parents.
