BRADENTON - A standoff in Bradenton ended peacefully Sunday evening.

It started around 8 pm, when a 57-year-old man went to Manatee Memorial Hospital asking for help, armed with a weapon.

By the time police arrived the man had left. They later caught up with him at the Carlton Arms Apartments, where the man had barricaded himself inside an apartment.

A few hours later, negotiators were able to recover the man from an attic, where he was hiding. He was taken into protective custody to be evaluated.

No criminal charges have been filed.
