MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - The next American Idol could be from the Suncoast, as a Braden River High School student takes to the stage when the show premieres tonight.

17-year-old Sam Woolf is a contestant on the new season of American Idol. He will perform for the judges in hopes of advancing to the next round of competition.

Back in September, producers for the show came to the Suncoast to shoot video of Woolf as he performed at a local restaurant.

We wish him the best of luck.
