BRADENTON - The Spark Group held an economic development summit Friday at the brand new Manatee Players Theater in Bradenton.

The Spark Group is an organization that bridges the gaps between traditional economic development organizations and other community initiatives.

Community leaders say with this type of collaboration, big things will be happening here on the Suncoast.

The founder of the Spark Group says the Riverwalk project in downtown Bradenton is a perfect example of how successful agencies are when working together, and it's proof that the Suncoast organizations know how to come together and get things done.

Now, the plan is continue with that collaboration, bringing together local government, chambers, economic development corporations and other agencies to further the growth in the region.

“We have a concentrated approach and team approach where you have the port, the county, the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto, the economic development council, the tourist development council…all working together to bring industry into our community to create jobs and create a vibrant place to live and that's really exciting for all of us,” says Karen Stewart, Economic Development Program Manager of Manatee County.

On Saturday, Spark is participating in Barcamp Sarasota-Bradenton's "Un-Conference" at the Manatee Technical Institute. It's free if you register online here.
