MANATEE COUNTY - An argument turned into a physical fight and then a shooting Sunday evening

It happened around 7 pm at 7800 17th Street East.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffrey Kates and 21-year-old Brandon Baker got into a verbal argument that turned physical. After the fight, both parties shook hands and Baker left the area.

Approximately 10 minutes later, Baker returned as a passenger in a grey or tan vehicle driven by another subject named Teddy.

By this time, the three juvenile victims had approached Kates to ask him about the fight he had just had with Baker. Teddy stopped past Kates and Baker exited the car. Baker yelled over to Kates and then fired 2 to 3 rounds at the victims with a .40 caliber handgun. Baker then re-entered the car with Teddy and fled the area.

No one was injured during the shooting.
