BRADENTON, FL. - Deputies say a 3-year-old boy was bitten on the face by a pit bull, and another pit bull was injured by gunfire from a deputy at a Bradenton home Thursday afternoon.

It happened at a home in the 3300 block of 13th Street East in Bradenton around 12:30pm.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, a deputy arrived at the house with Animal Services after receiving a report of a child injured in a dog bite.

The occupants of the home were uncooperative with authorities.  As the deputy walked around the back of the home, a second pit bull lunged at her, and she fired her gun, striking the dog in the paw.

The 3-year-old boy was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment to facial injuries and released.  The dog that bit him was impounded.

The dog with the injured paw was taken to a local vet for treatment.
