BRADENTON - Residents opposed to the Long Bar Pointe project took their concerns to the streets Tuesday. Protesters lined 75th Street West, waving signs at drivers to support their efforts to stop the project.

The group says they also plan to present a petition to Manatee County officials with thousands of signatures opposing the expansion plan.

Developers want to build homes, hotels, retail stores, and a marina along a stretch of undeveloped land along the north end of Sarasota Bay on El Conquistador Parkway.

Those opposed say it will destroy the environment and damage the bay.

A meeting on the subject is scheduled for August 6th at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto.
