The city of Palmetto has now jumped on board for a powerboat race on the Manatee River next year.  Last week Bradenton approved the idea as well .

Event organizers are discussing hosting various events in both Bradenton and Palmetto for the proposed two day races.  The possibility of closing the Green Bridge during the races is also being assessed.

The event could bring as many as 75,000 people to the area.  Powerboat races are scheduled for January 30th and 31st in 2015.
