BRADENTON - The bomb squad was called out in Manatee County Wednesday after they say a man threatened his family with a explosive device.

It happened at the Bradenton Villages public housing complex on 12th Avenue West in Bradenton.

Police were tipped off Wednesday morning by citizens concerned that 22-year-old Corey Wagoner was going to harm his family.  They told detectives that Wagoner showed them an explosive device that he constructed and kept in a back pack, and explained how he was going to blow his family up.

Detectives located Wagoner at the Bradenton Villages complex and noticed a suspicious device in a back pack. Police evacuated nearby residences, blocked off an area of the street, and removed a back pack from a home. The bomb squad used a robot to detonate the bag.

Wagoner has been charged with Manufacturing a Destructive Device and Threat to Use a Destructive Device.
