Pedestrian hit by one vehicle, run over by another

MANATEE COUNTY, FL. - A pedestrian walking along U.S. 41 is struck by one vehicle and then run over by another.

It happened Tuesday around 3am at U.S. 41 and 89th Street East.

A 52-year-old male was walking in a southbound direction on U.S. 41. An unknown vehicle was traveling in a northbound direction on U.S. 41 approaching the man. The vehicle struck the man and then left the scene.

Another vehicle driven by 52-year-old Richard Skillman of Bradenton was also traveling north on U.S. 41. He failed to see the pedestrian laying in the roadway and also struck him.

He was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any knowledge as to the identity of the driver or the vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800. Crash Investigator, Trooper Gerry Smith.
