PALMETTO, FL- A Bradenton man gets into a domestic dispute with wife, then barricades himself inside home with a gun.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office Deputies were called to the 3100 block of 8th street Court West in Palmetto for a domestic disturbance.  According to a Sheriff's report, Allen Matthews struck his wife during an argument.  His wife and son called authorities.  When deputies arrived, Matthews had locked himself inside the home and armed himself with a .22 firearm.

The neighborhood was evacuated, and authorities surrounded the home.  Matthews was actively firing a rifle inside the home and bullets were exiting through the house. Over an hour later a relative was able to speak to Matthews and convince him to give himself up.  He eventually did so, and was arrested and charged with domestic battery, improper exhibition of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
