Palmetto Gets Ready for 4th of July Concert

The City of Palmetto rushes last minute construction of it's brand new stage of the art stage. The two year project must be complete by July 4th.

Mayor Shirley Bryant says once again, Palmetto is bringing in a big name band from yesteryear to perform free in Sutton Park.

The Guess Who, famous for songs like "American Woman", will kick off the action at 5 pm, followed by "Village People" at 7. Village People has sold almost 100 million records world wide and has a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. Of course their biggest hit is "YMCA" , "Macho Man", "Go West" and many others.

The purpose of the event is promote Palmetto businesses. Many will set up booths at the concert to show off their products and services.

Admission is free. After the music is over, everybody will walk down to the Manatee River to watch the fireworks. They start about 9:30 pm
