Manatee District tops state percentages in FCAT retakes

BRADENTON, FL. - Manatee District 12th graders retaking the FCAT’s topped statewide percentages when it comes to scoring high enough to qualify for graduation.

The results were released by the Florida Department of Education.

On the 2013 FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake Test, 240 students in the 12th grade were assessed in the Manatee District this year. Of the 240 students, 20% achieved a passing score in reading. Statewide, 23,182 seniors took the 2013 FCAT Reading Retake Test and 17% achieved a passing score.

On the 2013 FCAT 2.0 Mathematics Retake Test, 65 students in the 12th grade were assessed in the Manatee District this year. Of the 65 students, 22% achieved a passing score in math. Statewide, 8,143 seniors took the 2013 FCAT Mathematics Retake Test and 21% achieved a passing score.

“I’m glad we came out above the state averages, but we still have a lot of work to do,” said new Deputy Superintendent of Instructional Services, Dr. Diana Greene. “I want to thank our students and teachers for their hard work and for their continued commitment as we work together to continue to improve.”
