PARRISH, Fla. - An off-duty Manatee County Sheriff's deputy had been placed on administrative leave after an early-morning arrest for DUI.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, around 4am Sunday, 27-year-old Kevin White, an off-duty deputy, was seen crashing into a street sign along U.S. 301 in Parrish and leaving the scene.
He was pulled over by an on-duty deputy, who reported that White was impaired, with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. There was also a strong odor of alcohol in the vehicle.
White refused a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of DUI with Damage to Property, and Leaving Crash Scene with Property Damage. He was taken to the Manatee County jail, where he refused to give a test sample.
White has been a patrol deputy with Manatee County since 2008.
