MANATEE COUNTY - A Bradenton man is in serious condition after being hit by a police car.

It happened just before 1am Friday near the intersection of State Road 64 and 48th Street Court East.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, 29-year-old Ryan White of Bradenton was a passenger in a vehicle involved in an accident at that intersection. He got out of his car and attempted to cross State Road 64 just as Bradenton Police officer Nicholaos Gianitsis was driving through the intersection in a marked patrol car.

The officer attempted to swerve away from White but struck him.

White was taken to Blake Medical Center in serous condition.
