BRADENTON - Deputies arrest a man on DUI charges after he hits a power box, back into a deputy’s cruiser and flees the scene.

It happened Wednesday around 11pm

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed 21-year-old Edger Lopez hitting a power box at 26th street and 53rd ave. He moved into position to make a traffic stop, when Lopez backed into the deputy’s cruiser, causing minor front-end paint damage.

Lopez fled the scene driving east on 53rd Avenue.

Another deputy pulled in front of Lopez so he would impact the cruiser and not make it to the intersection of U.S. 41. Lopez then stopped his vehicle.

He was removed from the vehicle and arrested on several charges, including DUI with Property Damage and Fleeing to Elude.
