How sad this situation is.. the death of a baby at a daycare is covered in the news and there are people like blackdog1 and a citizen who feel the need to comment negatively towards the family, trying to place blame on them.
Do you really think the news covered the entire story and all the details in the 3 minutes of air time? Do you realize it's totally offensive to assume that the parents didn't research this daycare? On the DCF website at that time, they were listed as a registered daycare. There were children there that had been going there for 5 years continuously. Would those parents have been to blame if it was their child that died that day since the Carbones were dishonest with them too and had no idea even after the death of this baby that they were not allowed to watch children? The Carbones were trained, they had been working as an at home day care for many years and the Carbones had just renewed their CPR the week before this happened, however, since it's unknown what exactly happened at that day care that morning, it's unknown how long of a delay there was before finding the baby and starting CPR.
And technically, this report is titled incorrectly. It is not the family suing the daycare, it is the State of Florida that has recognized that the Carbones are in the wrong, they broke the law, the State is charging them with operating a daycare without a valid license.
You're right, it's not just the Carbones to blame, it's DCF who didn't regulate this daycare correctly at that time or at this time. Go ahead and call DCF and ask them how they follow through with Daycares such as this one and you may get the same response, that they don't follow through because they "don't want to harass them"

I am amazed that during someone else's tragedy, there are people like this commenter that feel the need just to voice their opinion on something they no nothing about. How wrong it is to voice an opinion on a story of a family who has suffered as much as this family and then try to put blame on them.

What's absurd is that there are people like you that feel the need to comment such insensitivities on issues you obviously have no information on. Do you honestly think this family didn't make sure they were trained professionals? The daycare had been registered, however, they failed to meet the new licensure changes and were dishonest about being able to watch children during their transition from being a registered daycare to a licensed one. Not only did they lie to the Beardsleys, but the numerous families of children that were going there for years and to DCF.

My son had been at this daycare since he was a baby. He was there the day Isabella died. I DID check their license when I enrolled my son. I visited with them off and on for weeks before enrolling my son. I did everything a parent should do and I didn't know that their license had lapsed. As parents, you try your hardest to do everything right. But sometimes things happen. Sunnie and Don had previosuly checked out the daycare for their other daughter. They had no reason to suspect that the daycare had allowed their license to lapse while STILL ACCEPTING CHILDREN. They are amazing parents and have been tortured thinking of the "what ifs". It's very easy to stand on the outside of a situation that you know NOTHING about and pass judgment. I hope that if you ever have to endure something like this, you are met with people less judgmental than you.

To place blame on grieving parents in this situation is ignorant. Whether it's a daycare, babysitter, or family member who is entrusted with watching your child they have one purpose. That purpose is to care for the child. These people were obviously negligent & should be held accountable for their actions. The parents have suffered an unimaginable loss & deserve some sort of justice.

This family lost their baby. Unless you have ever buried a child, you have no idea what they have been through. The comments below are rude and uncalled for. How would you feel if it was YOUR child or grandchild? Don and Sunnie are wonderful parents and they are NOT to blame. They had used this daycare for an older child for several years with no problems. If you can't say something nice, please don't say anything at all. This family has enough pain already.......

This is truely a sad story, but don't the parents take any responsibility? They should have investigated the child care and checked the licensening. The Carborne child care certainly bears responsibility, but again I believe the owness is on the parents. Every problem anyone has is always "someone else's fault".I am sorry for their loss. The Beardsleys have to take responsibility too.

I am deeply sorry for this family's loss. I cannot even fathom it, but the idea of hiring somebody to look after your child and not knowing that the daycare wasn't licensed is absurd. As a parent, you should make SURE that the people watching your child are trained and licensed.
