Elderly couple robbed at knifepoint in their home

BRADENTON - An elderly couple was robbed in their Bradenton home at knifepoint Wednesday night, and now authorities are searching for the suspect.

It happened around 10pm in a trailer park in the 100 block of 51st Avenue West. According to Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies, the 72-year-old husband was asleep in the living room when the dog started barking on the porch. His 72-year-old wife went to see what was going on when she saw the suspect cut the screen door with a knife and entered the home.

He ordered the wife into the bedroom, demanded the husband's wallet, and fled from the residence with the wallet, heading east.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

The suspect was described as a muscular black male, about 6’ tall with long dreadlocks.
