MANATEE COUNTY - A dog found roaming the streets of Manatee County with a serious head injury is almost ready for a new home.

Since then, Axel has been recovering at Beach Veterinary Clinic.

This week, he has been neutered, which is a step required prior to adoption, and the drain has been removed from his face.

The search, however, continues for the person who did this to axle.

Manatee County Animal Services has spent time in the area where he was found, distributing flyers to homeowners and businesses, but they have haven't received any leads that could lead to an arrest.

There is still a reward in excess of $12,000 being offered for information.
